Configuring a Windows NT 4.0 Workstation
The following pages will walk you step-by-step through manually configuring your Windows NT 4.0 Workstation to connect to our service.
If you have the CoreComm Internet software on CD, or have downloaded it, then these instructions do not apply to you.
Before we can begin, you must have Remote Access Services (RAS) installed on your computer. For instructions on how to check to see if you have RAS, or add it, click here. Otherwise, without further ado, let's get started...
STEP ONE
From your Windows desktop, double-click on My Computer. Then, double-click on Dial-Up Networking. You'll see the dialer appear. If you don't have anything already configured (and you don't need to), then you'll see something like this:

STEP TWO
Click on the New button to create a phonebook entry to dial up to us. You'll see another dialog box pop up, and ask you for a name to give this entry. Enter in "CoreComm Internet" and click Next.

STEP THREE
You'll now be asked what options you'd like to set up for this connection. You should check all three boxes as shown here, and then click next.

STEP FOUR
Enter in the phone number you with to dial into, exactly as you would dial it from your telephone. Before you start using one of our dial-up numbers, you should verify with your phone company that it's going to be a local call.
Leave "Use Telephony dialing properties" unchecked, and click next.

STEP FIVE
Select PPP and click Next.

STEP SIX
Select None and click next. No dialup script is necessary.

STEP SEVEN
Leave the default 0.0.0.0 in place here if you have any of our standard dial-up accounts, since our server will tell your computer what IP address to use.
This should only be entered if you're paying for a special kind of account that comes with a permanent (static) IP address, which would be assigned to you when you signed up.
Click Next.

STEP EIGHT
Now, we need to enter in the IP address for your primary DNS server. This would be:
 | 209.153.128.4
|
Then, click Next.

STEP NINE
The Wizard will explain that you're finished. Click Finish to save the information to your computer.

STEP TEN
You'll see that the entry has been created, but there's one more thing we need to change. Click the More button and select Edit Modem and Entry Properties.

STEP ELEVEN
A new dialog box has popped up entitled Edit Phonebook Entry. Jump to the Server tab.
Click TCP/IP Settings and move onto the next step.

STEP TWELVE
Now, where it says secondary DNS, enter:
 | 169.207.1.3
|
When finished, click OK.

STEP THIRTEEN
Click OK to close any remaining dialog boxes and get back to the main Dial-Up Networking screen. You have completed the configuration, and can click Dial to get online.
