Changing Your User Name
Macintosh OS with PPP or Remote Access

You can follow these instructions for changing your user name in Macintosh OS with PPP or Remote Access. For assistance with a different operating system or dialing program, please see the listing of documented platforms. If you need further assistance, please contact our Technical Support department.

Newer Macintoshes primarily use either Remote Access or PPP as their Internet dialer. These two terms both refer to the same program and are used interchangeably. In order to change your user name using these programs, you must first open the PPP Control Panel. Do this by clicking on the Apple menu (typically found in the upper left corner of your screen) then Control Panels, then either PPP or Remote Access.

'Remote Access' Location in 'Control Panels' Menu

The Name field should currently display your old user name. To update this, simply retype the same name with @core.com after your user name. (no spaces) Example: If your present user name is john, your new user name should be john@core.com.

PPP Window

Once you have done this, click on the File menu and click on Quit. If you are prompted to save changes, please do so.
