Changing Your User Name
Macintosh OS with FreePPP Dialer

You can follow these instructions for changing your user name in Macintosh OS with the FreePPP Dialer program. For assistance with a different operating system or dialing program, please see the listing of documented platforms. If you need further assistance, please contact our Technical Support department.

Open the FreePPP control panel by clicking on the Apple menu, then Control Panels, then FreePPP Setup. (The last icon may also be referred to as some variation on FreePPP Setup) Alternatively, you can also access this same menu by opening your Hard Drive and opening your Netscape or FreePPP folder.

FreePPP Location

In the lower half of the FreePPP control panel you should see a set of three tabs labeled General, Accounts, Location, and Modems. If not, expand the control panel by clicking on the small triangle icon in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on the Accounts tab. Select your CoreComm connection and click on Edit.

FreePPP 'Setup' Window

The User Name field should currently show your old login name. To update this, simply retype the same name with @core.com after your user name. (no spaces) Example: If your present user name is john, your new user name should be john@core.com. Your password does not need to be modified. Once you have done so, click on OK. Click on File and select Quit.
