Extra E-Mail Account Setup

This document will describe to you how to use your extra E-Mail accounts with Microsoft Outlook Express 5.0 (and later). If you would like to have separate inboxes for these E-Mail addresses please follow the instructions below.

Step 1
With Outlook Express already open, click on File, then Identities, and then Add New Identity.

Step 2
A New Identity Window will pop up, "Under type your name:" type the name of the additional E-Mail address holder. For Example: your name is John Doe and your wifes name is Jane Doe and your E-Mail is already set up in Outlook Express and you are setting up your wifes E-Mail address under a new identity so you will want to type your wifes name "Jane Doe". Then click OK. You can enter a password if you would like but it is not recommended.

Step 3
Outlook Express will ask you if you want to switch to that new identity which we specified as Jane Doe in this example? Click Yes.

Step 4
Outlook Express may or may not ask you "You are currently connected to the Internet. Do you want to keep the current connection for the next identity?" If you are connected to the internet while adding this new identity and you want to keep the internet connection then you must click YES. If you are not connected to the internet at this time then Outlook Express will not ask this question.

Step 5
The internet connection wizard will pop up while you are in the new identity. Under the Display name: again type the name of the E-Mail account holder to which you are creating this identity for. For Example: Jane Doe. Then, click Next.

Step 6
Make sure you have "I already have an E-Mail address that I would like to use" specified with a black dot. Then, enter your additional E-Mail address under E-Mail address: For Example we are using:
janedoe@core.com
Then, click Next.

Step 7
Enter in the mail server names, Under "My incoming mail server is a POP3 server" leave that set as the default.
Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server: [See additional information]
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: authmail.core.com
Then, click Next.

Step 8
Type your account name and password. Under Account name: type the first part of the additional E-Mail address with out the @core.com. For Example: janedoe. Then, type the password for that account under password. The password will be encrypted and show up as ***** Make sure you have a check mark in Remember password. Do NOT put a check mark in "Log on using a secure password Authenication (SPA)". Then, click Next.

Step 9
Congratulations you are Finished! Click Finish.

Step 10
You are finished setting up the additional account and are now in that persons identity. To switch back to your inbox simply click on File, then Switch Identity, then choose your account or Main Identity, then click OK.
